Mark Toynbee

Mark is a DPhil student in Psychiatry.

He studied Biochemistry at Exeter College, Oxford, and Medical Law and Ethics at King’s College London before becoming a doctor.

Mark has previously worked in a molecular biology laboratory studying the molecular mechanisms of monogenetic diseases, with the medical ethics team at Columbia University’s Department of Psychiatry, and with the Department of Psychiatry at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. He has a postgraduate diploma in Health Research from the University of Oxford.

Mark is particularly interested in the psychiatric conditions that affect patients in acute hospitals, how these interact with patients’ other medical problems, and how we can improve the psychiatric care of medical inpatients.
